Marshall Residential Life Team

The TMC Residential Life team is here to support YOU in your development as a student, and as a person. We're here to answer your questions, put on fun and engaging programs, and to make your on-campus experience the best it can be. Our team consists of both professional and student staff members, all of which you can read about below.

The Director of Residential Life and the Assistant Directors of Residential Life are also a part of the Marshall College Student Affairs team. We are full-time professional staff specifically responsible for the management of the Marshall Residential Life program and residential facilities. Our duties include ensuring the infusion of our Marshall College philosophies through: supervising, training and developing the Resident Advisor team; facilitating the growth and development of residents within the Marshall community; social justice education programs, counseling residents; supporting students through personal, academic or behavioral difficulties; adjudication of policy violations, and collaborating with the Housing (H*D*H) maintenance, custodial and facilities staff.

Our office administrative staff members (professional staff and student Residential Sevice Attendants) are available in our Residential Life office (located on the 4th floor below the OceanView dining hall) during our business hours to assist you with everything from lockouts and room changes to general questions. Our main office number is (858) 534-4340 or contact us via email at tmreslife@ucsd.edu.

    Resident Assistants (RAs)

The RAs are students—like you—who have been competitively selected and trained to support you. They serve as peer counselors, advisors, programmers and colleagues, who are knowledgeable about Marshall College and UC San Diego resources. They will also challenge and support you as you navigate through your transition into Marshall College. RAs are critical sources of information. If they don’t know the answers, they'll guide you, so don’t ever hesitate to ask questions! They are interested in hearing your ideas for activities that you want to happen in your community. Make it a point to get to know your RA—and they work intentionally to get to know you. They will also support you and your new community as you get to know yourself, check yourself and be yourself at Marshall College.

While RAs are here to support you, please remember that RAs are also full-time students—they have academic demands and study needs similar to your own. Your RA is not required to be in their room all the time; they need personal, private, and self care time too. Therefore, there will be occasions when your RA will not be available to you.  You can contact Marshall Residential Life (858) 534-4340 or contact the on-duty RA  (858) 945-7154.

The OAs are students from Marshall or across campus, just like you! They work during our business hours and are trained to be able to assist you with anything Marshall ResLife related.

    University Safety Officials (USOs)

USOs are UC Police Department (UCPD) employees who work in our residential communities to ensure a safe and collegial environment in our community. Each night, they walk the Marshall residential grounds, and can be contacted in the event that you have safety or policy related concerns. They can be contacted via (858) 534-(HELP) 4357.
