Welcome to the Thurgood Marshall College family and UC San Diego community!
Your journey to Thurgood Marshall College at UC San Diego begins when you accept your offer and receive your Enrollment Checklist. Be sure to activate your UC San Diego student email account early to stay connected and informed.
The NewTriton Advising Portal is housed in the Virtual Advising Center (VAC). New Triton Advising must be completed by Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
You will be able to complete the following in the VAC:
First-Year College Orientation is a mandatory program that provides incoming students an overview of resources, involvement opportunities, and additional information to support your transition to college life. You must register for your College Orientation sessions by Friday, July 25, 2025.
Registration for Orientation opens mid-May on the Colleges Orientation Registration ("COR") Website. Spaces per session are limited.
Your First-Year Orientation experience is led by an Orientation Leader (OL), who is a current UC San Diego student. During Orientation you will learn about Thurgood Marshall College's rich history, values, and traditions and deepen your understanding of academic support and campus resources, as well as explore co-curricular opportunities.
Participation is required for all parts of orientation. Thurgood Marshall College Orientation has an in-person Orientation program and asynchronous CANVAS modules.

By participating and completing these in-person and asynchronous components, you will learn about a variety of topics, including:
Thurgood Marshall College Orientation has a 1-day in-person Orientation program, in which you will connect with your Orientation Leader and fellow incoming students.

*This session is highly encouraged for commuter and local students, but all are welcome.
Asynchronous: In addition to attending the synchronous session, incoming students are required to complete a series of assignments on Canvas. Canvas is UC San Diego's Learning Management System. Canvas will open on August 18, 2025.

Accept your Offer of Admission with the UC San Diego Admissions Office. Review the Math Placement and UC Entry Level Writing Requirement information. Depending on your choice of major, you may need to review the Chemistry Placement and the Language Placement websites. You need to complete these requirements as soon as possible and before course enrollment begins. Activate your UC San Diego email account by visiting this website. All official University correspondence, including your course enrollment, will be sent to your UC San Diego email ONLY. UC San Diego email is the University's official method of communication. Review the Hepatitis B Hold and provide UC San Diego with proof of immunization as soon as possible. Submit your application for on-campus housing by using the "Housing Portal". |

Request your official high school transcript, any college transcripts, and any AP/IB scores are sent to the UC San Diego Admissions office. Verify that your junior year (or prior) AP/IB scores are sent. Go to the Campus Card Office website for information on how to submit your ID card photo online. |

The New Triton Advising site opens! Here you will need to input your Academic Information before the July 2 deadline. The College Orientation Registration site opens! Register for Orientation before the July 25 deadline. After this date, a $25 late fee will charged. |

Deadline to submit your official transcript to UC San Diego Admissions. Note: The Office of Admissions encourages all students to submit transcripts electronically rather than by mail. Students should check the "Enrollment Checklist" under Transcripts and Test Scores for Information. |

If you are a new incoming International Student, some additional programs may be required. Please visit the International Students & Programs Office’s website for more information.
If you choose to decline your acceptance to UC San Diego, you must notify UC San Diego Admissions. Contact them by email at SIRDecline@ad.ucsd.edu or by phone at (858) 534-4831.
If you do not formally decline your acceptance, you will receive a bill for New Student Orientation. If you decline your acceptance after attending Fall Orientation, you will still be billed and are responsible for the fees owed.
